The traditional programme of Saturday at Villa Borghese featured a thrilling finale in the sunny, crowded Piazza di Siena, after twelve pairs performed in the spectacular Six Bars Loro Piana in the late afternoon.

By the end of the third jump-off (the maximum permitted hight), the only competitor to safely clear the final 2-metre-high fence was Italy’s Giacomo Bassi on the grey Milles, also Italian.

The only other contender for victory against Bassi was Lorenzo De Luca, who made a mistake riding Baskin Smooth Diamond.

Giacomo Bassi, 34-year-old from Emilia Romagna, has already won this class in 2025 with another horse, albeit tied with two other riders and with a mistake over 2 metres.
