In a fiercely contested speed class – the third competition presented by Range Rover in the 2026 CSIO Roma Master d’Inzeo, the 54 competitors kept the large crowd in Piazza di Siena on the edge up to the last jump. An finally they all cheered on Italy’s Riccardo Pisani to victory.

With obstacles set at 1.50 metres on a course designed by Uliano Vezzani, a total of 24 pairs completed the course without faults. But Pisani, riding Chacco’s Lawito PS, was the fastest and finished his performance in 63.57 seconds.

Entering the arena by the half of the starting order, the pair produced a superb round, fluid at every stage.

How wonderful! The victory I’ve been waiting for so long has finally arrived,” commented Pisani, who is competing at Piazza di Siena for the eighth time and had still not won on the Roman arena.

The horse was perfect today. The performance was exactly what I was looking for. Chacco’s Lawito PS is the horse I’ll be riding in the Rolex Gran Premio Roma, and today I wanted to acclimatise him to the atmosphere. Now he’ll have two days of rest until Sunday. He’s a fast horse with great balance and a long stride, so I don’t need to push him too hard; I just need to let him go with his natural rhythm...

Riccardo’s victory comes on top of those achieved by his children, Andrea and Iris, who are also recent winners in international competitions as part of Italy’s young talent squad. Andrea triumphed in the five-star event at Camaiore, and Iris in the Grand Prix at the CSIO Youth in St. Margarethen. “In terms of sport, I’ve restored the family hierarchy today,” joked the Italian rider.

Giulia Martinengo Marquet secured second place with a time of 64.81, riding Scuderia 1918 Calle Deluxe, whilst Gilles Thomas of Belgium took third place, riding Qiara de Kavalrie and clocking a time of 65.00.
