Under 25s debut at Piazza di Siena
Young jumping talents will be new protagonists in the 92nd edition of the Piazza di Siena Master d'Inzeo CSIO of Rome.
The program for the eagerly awaited Rome horse show will include this year a new international event, the CSIU25-A presented by Goldspan, reserved for under 25 riders. It will feature many of the best and most promising young contenders, some of whom have already gained celebrity in the top jumping circuit.
This competition consists of two categories on Thursday and Friday, and of the coveted U25 Grand Prix on Sunday (4.15 p.m.).
The Under-25 competitions play a very important role in the jumping world as a link between the “youth” categories (children, juniors and young riders up to 21 years of age), and the international horse shows where these riders compete against all the other contenders, primarily seniors.
The starting list of the CSIU25 in Piazza di Siena features twenty-two participants, mainly female riders (12), from 10 countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, the United States of America and Italy.
Belgium's Evelyne Putters, France's Jules Orsolini and Germany's Johanna Beckmann are part of Team 2025 of the Young Riders Academy, a multidisciplinary program supported by Rolex designed to promote young European jumping talents, under the aegis of Athenaeum in collaboration with the International Jumping Riders Club (IJRC). Iris Michels from the Netherlands and Sofia Manzetti from Rome participated in the same program in 2024 and 2023 respectively.
The Italian team will compete with 11 young talents, with a clear majority of female riders (7). In addition to Sofia Manzetti, the team includes Tommaso Arricca, Beatrice Cameroni, Martina Ferrari, Aurora Guaragno, Martina Lain, Zoe Lia, Lavinia Lo Bosco, Gianluca Milner, Lorenzo Privitera and Gustavo Spera.
The group of riders from abroad consists of Franco Martinez from Argentina, Anthony Philippaerts from Belgium, the son and brother of famous riders, Luiz Felipe Neto De Azevedo from Brazil, also the son of famous riders on both his father's and mother's side, Ramatou Ouedraogo from France, Mikolaj Baranski from Poland, Anastasia Bondarieva from Ukraine and Skylar Wireman from Usa.
