Biography

Dubbeldam is one of two riders in the world who have won gold medals at the all the most important international events, the Olympic Games, the World Championships and the European Championships. Born into an equestrian family, it was his father who encouraged him to ride. It was not love at first sight, on the contrary, he definitely preferred football and so his father always made sure he had good horses to ride so that he would have as many positive experiences and results as possible and not give up. Having reached the summit of international equestrianism thanks to the gold medal surprisingly won at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Dubbeldam continued to consolidate his status as an extremely successful rider.

Jeroen has three children, Rick, Chris and Nina. The boys prefer to play football and when their father is at home they enjoy taking him to matches. Nina is probably his keenest fan and when her father won the World Championships she raced over to him, hugging him, while tears of joy ran down her face. The horse closest to his heart is certainly De Sjem, ‘The Grey One’, and the stables that Dubbeldam calls home are named after him. In addition to managing his yard, the Dutch champion organises auctions every year together with Ben and Wim Schröder, held during the show called Jumping Amsterdam. He also supports a disabled riders associations.
