As a child Piergiorgio was attracted by horses and so he started to ride like cowboys do. Children not born to families already involved in the equestrian world only see the horses of cowboys and Indians. An American saddle, a cowboy hat and a holster… Fate then intervened guiding towards his dreams…  He learned to jump and his talent was noticed by the owner of the L’Aquila Aterno Stables, Elio Balestrazzi. 

Piergiorgio then became what one could describe as a great example for everyone. He was obviously very talented, but also capable of self-criticism, correctly detached from positive and negative elements, with an ability to learn from his mistakes, great determination and very hard working. He is a rider who has given the Italian team a great deal, since in 2010, after winning team silver at the European Championships, he moved to Holland to open his own commercial and sports stables, an adventure she shares with his wife Janika Sprunger, the Swiss rider who also rode in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
