Born in Brazil near the sea, as a boy Arthur Gustavo (known as Tuca) started first of all to surf. When he was four years old horses soon came into his life thanks to his father, a dentist with a great passion for horses. They had stables at home where friends and acquaintances kept their horses and Arthur spent a lot of time there with his father. He started to ride when he was seven, marking the beginning of an explosive career as a junior.

At the age of 17 he left Brazil for Europe, the beating heart of international equestrianism, where he initially went to ride for Francois Mathy Jr, later moving to Jan Tops’ stables and then to ride for Markus Fuchs – and with these champions and horsemen as his reference point Arthur Gustavo’s star could only shine brighter. Da Silva also likes skiing and going to the cinema.
